Mission

The Louisiana Council of AORN Chapters is a state-wide organization composed of AORN Chapters and their perioperative nurse members.

• Enhance unity and continuity of communication with a networking system for LA AORN chapters.
• Provide a mechanism for interaction to discuss issues regarding perioperative nursing.
• Promote excellence in patient care through the development of educational opportunities.

Goals

All participating AORN chapters within the state will be informed of the Council activities to encourage interest and participation.
1. To develop a statewide communication network
2. To act as advisory council for education

3. To monitor and identify nursing issues and inform LA membership via chapter representatives, email and/or the Council Facebook page here.
4. To provide a Council workshop that would be of interest to all nurses

a. Council will work to coordinate workshop [when deemed appropriate]
b. Offering a workshop will be dependent on financial feasibility

5. To maintain interactive relationship/communication with national AORN.
6. To promote activities which foster the development of perioperative nursing in Louisiana.

Membership Details (how to join)

  • Membership in the Louisiana Council is composed of the active AORN chapters in the state and is not restricted by consideration of the nationality, race, creed, color, sex, lifestyle of age of its members.
  • Chapter representatives (2) should be designated by each chapter with the authority or limits of authority to speak for that chapter, per each chapter policy.
  • Dues will entitle the chapter two (2) representatives with one (1) vote

a. The dues for the LA Council of AORN Chapters shall be as follows per year:

    • Chapters with <75 members will be fifty dollars ($50.00) per year;
    • Chapters with >75 members will be seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per year.
    • Individual dues ten dollars ($10.00 per annum as non-voting associate members] per year

b. Non-voting members, students, and other AORN members are welcome at all meetings.
