Memphis is in the south western most part of the state, and is situated along the Mississippi River. The Memphis metropolitan area includes West Tennessee and the greater Mid-South region which includes portions of neighboring Arkansas, Mississippi, and the Missouri bootheel.  Memphis is a center for media and entertainment, with the nickname “Home of the Blues” Other attractions include Graceland, Sun Studio, Blues Hall of Fame, Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Memphis Style Barbeque and has achieved international prominence hosting the annual World Championship barbecue Cooking Contest. Memphis Medical District includes Elvis Presley Trauma Center, Memphis Firefighter Burn Center, major hospital systems, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and much more.

About Us

Memphis Chapter AORN is a small chapter with enormous energy. Recipient Bronze Chapter Ward 2009. Home of Past President Ruth Shumaker.

Mission

Advocate for patient and staff safety through all phases of perioperative nursing using evidence-based guidelines.

Vision

Provide education including CEUs, involve Periop 101 students in the local chapter, support nursing scholarships, and provide community projects.
